SA's arms industry is a vital contributor to the nation's economy

Our weapons trade has never violated UN regulations and should be a source of pride

As we celebrate 25 years of defence in a democracy, we have a lot to be proud of. From the feats of human nature and desire to progress that have been demonstrated in our transition from the horrors of apartheid to a democracy we have successfully integrated archenemies into a formidable military force that contributes to peace and regional stability.

While there are many other examples of which we should be proud - like being the second-oldest air force in the world that celebrates its centenary in 2020 - I'll forge ahead to the purpose of this article, which is to recognise the South African defence community, especially the South African defence industry...
