Christmas is coming: Joburg's best festive markets

For keen Christmas shoppers looking to tick those names off their “good” lists in advance, Joburg has an abundance of beautiful festive markets happening across the city over the next few weeks.

Here are three of our not-to-be-missed favourites:

1. VINTAGE AND ARTISANAL MARKET JOBURG

If you’re shopping for someone who goes crazy for the words vintage, antique, or retro, then the Vintage and Artisanal Market Joburg (November 25) should definitely be your first stop.

Taking place for one day only, this celebration in Saxonwold is filled with pre-loved vintage fashion, antiques and collectables, handcrafted homeware and decor, and crafts, ceramics, and jewellery.

Coupled with activities for the kids and delicious food and drink, you can expect to finish your Christmas shopping, and have a great day out with the family.

2. THE PARKVIEW CHRISTMAS MARKET

If you’d like to do a little good while ticking off your Christmas list, then look no further than the Parkview Christmas Market (November 30 to December 2). 

Taking place in George Hay Park every year, this incredible market aims to raise funds for the Nicarela charities through fun-filled events and treats for the whole family.

Expect gorgeous items like handmade decorations, beautifully crafted traditional gifts and locally produced fare, as well as their famous beer and sparkling wine and oyster tents. Be sure not to miss this opportunity to give back this festive season. 

3. BRYANSTON MOONLIGHT MARKETS

The Bryanston Organic Market is known for their magical Moonlight Markets during the festive season, and this year they’ll be hosting them on Tuesday evenings up until December 18.

Focused on family entertainment, you can look forward to all the usual loveliness of the Bryanston Organic Market, but with the addition of live carol singing, Christmas activities for the little ones, and, of course, hundreds of magical crafts and presents to make you the favourite at Christmas lunch this year. A wonderful way to spend an evening out.
